Twitter Analytics

“According to PC World, this new tool will be a great asset for businesses, as it can help them determine whether an online visitor found the website through Twitter, a search engine or some other source. This is useful, the source says, because companies will be able to launch “incentive and affiliate programs, which would have been impossible to implement in the past.”

Seeing as this really was not plausible before, the magnitude of this project could be immense for your affiliate campaigns. These analytics will allow you to tweak your affiliate marketing efforts and target the places that are going to bring you a better ROI. After all, return on investment is the key to success in business…..online and brick and mortar.

Geo targeting is a huge benefit when you are talking about making real money online.

Learn how to do that…and you can make a fine income. Hopefully you are learning some of those how to’s here at affiliatehat. That is after all, our main goal.

Ethical Affiliate Marketing: Don’t Cookie Stuff!

By djfunkyslick On September 7, 2011 No Comments

If you want to make fast cash once, be an unethical affiliate marketer. Lie and cheat your way to money. However, if you want to make a lot of money over and over again; practice ethical affiliate marketing. Don’t be a cookie stuffer!

What Is Cookie Stuffing?

Also goes by the term force click. Cookie stuffing is an unethical affiliate behavoir and many affiliate programs now incorporate this into their terms of use. If a merchant determines you practice cookie stuffing, you can be booted out of the program altogether. If it’s a high paying gig, you lose big time.

What is being described is the practice of automatically simulating a physical click of an affiliate link. Cookie stuffing is commonly used to describe a simulated click happening on a web site versus a simulated click happening through adware. Occasionally people will use the term in conjunction with adware.

When a simulated click of an affiliate link occurs, the clickstream happens as it normally would if a real person had physically clicked the link. The affiliate link is sent to the respective Network (or Merchant in the case of an in-house program) servers, the click is recorded and tracking cookies are placed on the end user’s computer. Hence the term cookie stuffing since in many cases the most obvious sign that something has happened is the appearance of the tracking cookie(s) on the computer.

There are many ways to technically automate or simulate a physical click of an affiliate link. The term cookie stuffing generally encompasses any of the various ways of achieving a simulated click of an affiliate link.

My simple practice is this; operate your affiliate business with the utmost integrity and ethical behavoir. You can make a serious amount of money with the right program and marketing. This should be treated as a real and viable business venture on your part.

You wouldn’t want your brick and mortar business succumbing to scams right? You would want real, live and breathing customers. Treat your affiliate marketing business the same.

Want To Make Affiliate Money? Think Shoes

By djfunkyslick On August 27, 2011 2 Comments

Not your typical type of affiliate program, I know. However, after doing some research, I think shoes are a great way to make some affiliate money.

Affiliate Shoe Programs

When deciding what affiliate program is going to make you money; you need to first consider the demand. Are people going to want or need your product? Without the want or need, you have no offer. Rather, you will end up with a junk offer.

Now, where shoes are concerned, everyone wants shoes….NEEDS shoes. Work, play, fashion….people love their shoes. And people will pay ridiculous amounts of money for good shoes. This is where you come in. You, as a shoe affiliate will offer them exactly what they need.

As an affiliate marketer, you know all about the Clickbanks and Amazons; but sometimes you need to narrow down a bit further. Define a niche. So, if you select shoes as your next affiliate program, drill down more and select heels…or athletic. Not absolutely necessary, but it will drive more targeted traffic your way.

So, I found a few shoe affiliate programs that will help you make the most of your marketing and profiting efforts. Good payouts, great selections of shoes and reputable companies as well. The LAST thing a successful affiliate marketer does is use scam, junk companies or products. If someone buys a shoe from you and the heel falls off on the first wear..you are done.

You have lost a customer for life and your word of mouth marketing just got a swift kick in the teeth…with that broken heel. I found a great resource for shoe affiliates, listing some of the top programs for you to join, that are not your everyday affiliate hubs.

Check out this one for instance:

Shoebuy.com is my final pick of shoe superstores. I don’t think you can go wrong with advertising shoes from this site. In addition to having a great selection, they’ve got terrific service and low prices. In addition, you’ll earn a whopping 17 percent commission on every sale. Check them out on Commission Junction.

The link below will take you to the best resource for shoe affiliate programs I could find. It’s relevant, up to date and top notch information. Thanks to Jeff Greer for compiling this list.

How to Make More Commission per Sale with Web Hosting Affiliate Program

By Affiliate Hat On August 24, 2011 No Comments

Making money via CPA program, such as web hosting affiliate program, is challenging, partly because you need to get targeted traffic and turn the most of that traffic into profit. Conversion and per sale commission are the keys to success.

Have you ever visited Hosting Review site? It’s a way to capitalize on web hosting affiliate programs and to say the least, a decent hosting reviews site can make you $1000+/month.

How so?

Web hosting affiliate programs are always interesting because web hosting is one of the niches that pays well – you can earn more than $100 per sale!

If you are involved or interested in promoting web hosting affiliate program, I have one big tip for you on how to improve your profits.

You must negotiate with the web hosting affiliate managers.

Negotiate with hosting affiliate managers

Yes, hosting affiliate commissions can be negotiated! All you need to do is contact the web hosting affiliate program you are interested in, and pitch your intention.

The key is what in your pitch. You need to hint your message that you will feature the hosting in your site. When you pitch right, your email or contact message will be forwarded to the affiliate manager – the decision maker.

You need to feature a particular web hosting program

So, the best way to increase your commission per sale is by featuring the particular hosting in your site or marketing message.

Let’s say you want to promote HostGator affiliate program (HostGator pays you up to $100 per sale.)

If you run a site, you might want to promote the hosting affiliate program in your articles – for example, write HostGator Review.

Place banners on prominent spots, or simply state “XYZ Hosting is our preferred partner” or such.

You might also want to promote the hosting affiliate program by providing HostGator Coupons, which people can use to redeem discounts (and make you affiliate income.)

Final tips…

Of course, not all would agree to your proposal, but you need to have a go-getter attitude because you don’t really know whether the affiliate manager would agree to your proposal or not unless you try it…

The best way to increase your per sale commission is by increasing the volume of hosting signups. This is not easy – so many competitors in hosting affiliate marketing, but if you are focused in your effort, be honest and genuine, you will be surprised of the results.

Why Affiliate Marketers Suck

By djfunkyslick On August 23, 2011 1 Comment

Okay, so here is the situation. There affiliate marketers who make bank. Big money. But this post is not about them. This is about why a lot of affiliate marketers suck. See where you fall.

Affiliate Marketing Issues

I told you in the last post that if you email me too much with your offers, I will unsubscribe. Period. It’s annoying and truthfully, it’s the easiest way to lose affiliate money. You DO NOT want that to happen.

It’s all about striking a balance. You need to find a happy medium in your affiliate business. Now, back to why affiliate marketers suck.

Let me clarify here…affiliate marketers who lie, cheat, spam and annoy suck. I can tell you from personal experience, probably 85% of affiliate marketing falls into this category. Why? Simple. People want an easy way out. Well, no legit, profitable business is easy to build.

You need to pore your blood sweat and tears into the business, build it, run it….then sit back and prosper. All of which is totally possible with affiliate marketing. I mean, other people have already done the hard work and created the products…all you have to do is promote them.

How you go about that determines whether you suck or not. If you promote scam products, you suck. If you claim to make $58,000 in one hour, you suck. How about emailing your list 10x a day? SUCK!

Here’s the thing folks, always be honest and have integrity in your online ventures. Your word is your brand. Your brand will fail miserably if you make a few sales and it’s crap. Or if you don’t deliver the goods you promise. If you tell me I can make $58,000 in one hour…by God, I better be able to do it.

If I can’t do it, you are a liar and you SUCK. Period. Any questions?
